Tia makes Barbossa an offer involving Jack’s past and future. Pre-mutiny backstory. Can be read as a standalone, but you'll build up a fuller picture if you read some of the other Truths and Lies stories.

“The sea need the shore.”

“A rock don’ shine, but it let the waves break, an’ it never ask nothin’ back.”

This imagery of Jack as wild as the sea and Bill as solid as a rock has, of course, been evident throughout your piece and like truly great imagery, I never saw it until Tia brings it up here. Now, I won't deny that it could be because I'm numb when it comes to these things, but seems to me, that's a very fine piece of writing you have done. (go ahead, I dare you to call me numb after that compliment!)

They are all so full of need, aren't they? It's one of the things that you write so well, how their needs really drive them and so recklessly, too. Your Tia is very good, I can see her being so tempting, playful yet very dangerous. I do get the feeling she could turn him to dust in a heartbeat. Wouldn't quite serve her purpose, but there is steel in her bones.

I am wondering if Tia means Bill or William Turner and Barbs just hasn't made the distinction yet? No worries, I am reading...

I had to make an icon! *g*

I wouldn't dream of calling you numb! :)

I like characters needy - it gives them a reason to do whatever they do. And CotBP Barbossa was just oozing needy from every putrescent pore.

Tia was tough. I really didn't want to write her as we barely knew her from DMC alone, but I figured she was the only person in a position to get Barbossa's story out of him.

The icon is FANTASTIC - perfect expressions on both of them.
