My stats are not current, but for many years the odds were greater to get hit and killed by lightning while playing golf on a golf course in New Mexico than any place else in the world. They can get the lightning there without the rainfall, which is where we would normally expect to see lightning and take cover accordingly. And standing on the wide open golf course holding up a metal rod is a bit like tempting fate...

Wow ... when Mark Twain said golf was a waste of a good walk, he was just trying to save our lives!
