Getting Ambushed By the Anti-Credit Crisis

 So, I got a letter from my credit card company, saying I was scheduled for an "account review". They wanted to let me know that, because the highest balance on my account has been significantly lower than my credit limit, my credit limit could be decreased.
Now, let's think about this for a minute.

Over here if you keep paying off the balance of your card each month (which we usually do) they keep putting the limit up and up! Ours is far too high but we don’t use it much …

It was that way with me for awhile. Apparently they finally figured out I wasn't going to buy a yacht or a jet plane from them.

Credit is such a backwards thing. By paying off my card every month I'm less of a valuable customer to the bank as they'd rather have someone who just makes minimum payments and racks up interest. I mean surely they must also need customers who aren't in debt always right? Because as things get worse people's ability to pay that debt off is going to be dwindling and you can't get money when people don't have any.

It's so frustrating that the world rewards people who are less responsible and also doesn't really do the work to teach people how to be responsible with credit cards. They'll give them away to pretty much any 18 year old at college with no info about debt or interest or how credit ratings work...

Better education to young people would certainly be a nice start--but that would eat into the interest profit, so we can't count on the credit card companies to do that.
