Elections and Toilets

My son-in-law Vince replaced our malfunctioning toilet with a brand new one tonight, for which I'm very grateful (as you might imagine).

I like this analogy. Regardless of political party it's good for the leaders to not get complacent as that leads to more corruption. Not being in the US I can just watch and worry about how this affects the rest of the world in either direction. I hope it comes out the best possible way for you in your state.

Me, too. I'm a big believer in term limits. The Founding Fathers planned for our government to be led by "amateurs"--no professional politicians sitting on their hands for decades. Of course, they also planned for most of the governing to be done at the state level, but people learned they could gain power and wealth by doing the opposite.

Term limits would make things so much better. When it's the same leaders for decades they're partially staying in because of name recognition ( ... )

It's hard not to be long winded when it seems like no one is listening to you. I think one problem is that our politicians are too old, and many of the other influencers in the country aren't old enough--there's a pretty good middle ground where people have some life experience and maturity, but aren't on the doddering edge of death.
