Depression Can Be Depressing

Hi, who wants to talk about something serious?

Fine, you people move on--but just so you know, the rest of us will be having chocolate.

I don't often get serious here, because the world's serious enough--and there are plenty of others out there talking seriously in my stead. I like to get serious with humor, which may offend some people ... but ( Read more... )

Yes - it’s important to make sure that mental health is looked after just like any other health issue. I’m glad you’ve found something that helps you. I think this has been such a horrible year for everyone as we can’t distract ourselves with fun stuff as all the fun stuff stopped happening.

I’m so sorry about your brother. RIP

At least I still had writing--I often did that instead of the other fun stuff, anyway. Just the same, it wasn't exactly a happy time.

Right there with you...I am on the edge of asking for something to be prescribed. Haven't had any problems until, hello, pandemic. And you're right...spring has not sprung much at all here in New Jersey, either.

You've had a lot on your plate. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. Most of all, I'm glad you're opening a dialogue.

*hugs*

Winter can be brutal. I find that I do okay in Toronto because while it is darker and that takes a toll, I generally have more to do (not in 2021 of course) and that's been enough for me to do okay. When I was a student in my final year in Northern Ontario I fully rolled into some SAD and know it's something I need to be aware of in case that creeps in again.

Be good to yourself. I think this year is a rough one before you start to add on personal losses and sickness and other hardships. You're carrying a lot and I'm glad you have a support system and medical help to back you up.

Keeping busy is a good way to help fight any kind of depression--the problem being, of course, that the depression wants to stop you from getting going to begin with. Emily gives me the necessary kick in the pants, from time to time.
