You want a great book to give this holiday season?
Okay, yeah, my books, but this one isn't about self-promotion. I'm talking about a book Emily got me, one of my favorite gifts: The Annotated Wizard of Oz.

This sounds like it's worth having even if you're only a casual Oz fan. (I've read all the Baum books at least once but none of the others.) I still insist the slippers should be silver! And of course Dorothy's a blonde! But I've seen photos of Judy Garland with a blonde wig as Dorothy and it didn't suit her. Have you read Baum's Aunt Jane series? He wrote them under a female pseudonym though they're all on Kindle under Baum. It's a series for girls - we'd probably call them young adult today - and all take place before WWI except the last book which takes place during WWI. I enjoyed them. Not fantasy, though.

No, that blonde wig didn't do Judy any favors at all, did it? In some ways she was all wrong for the book Dorothy--but she sure made the movie Dorothy her own ( ... )
