Singing the short story blues

After mulling it over in my mind for some time, I wrote a short story the other day, then revised and polished it. I was really proud--it was one of my better short stories, clever and fun. Oops, that sucks. I suppose it could be worse. Once I submitted to one of the big magazines and was told 'we don't publish anything as cliche as werewolves.' There were no werewolves in my story

This was mid-90s so pre-pretty much any social media and even then (after that) I heard about how much of an arrogant douche that editor was. I mean to make waves in that time period...
