Don't Cry For My Air Conditioner

We had an unusually cool spring, so maybe the problem didn't start with the first heat wave of the year, but that's sure when we noticed it: Our big window air conditioner blew air just fine, but that air wasn't conditioned.

If these things don't happen at the worst possible time, they're at least discovered then.

I can't complain, because the air ( Read more... )

You know, sometimes I exaggerate for the sake of a fun story ... but I didn't have to this time!

Old houses can be a nightmare. I hope the new air conditioner is working well now. I wish I had one, but most of the time I don't need one. It just would be nice on those few hot days we have each year.

I used to do without an air conditioner, but it was a nightmare. Overall we've had a cooler than usual spring and summer this year, but when we do need it to be cooler--we REALLY need it.

But it's working fine!

I have an air conditioner in our small bedroom, that was given to us used about 25 years ago. The ting still works, it's on its last leg. Tt takes an hour and a half of running to cool a small room but it's still running. Since it's in the spare bedroom we rarely use it but I'm not looking forward to having to replace it.

About the remote... I would reconsider using it. We bought a large unit to cool our downstairs in 2003, it still works but the buttons to turn on and off the unit are all pushed in and as a result the remote doesn't work either. I would use the remote to avoid that problem.

The new new unit is very nice.

Older equipment like that, it just keeps puffing along. They quite literally don't make them like they used to.

Not a bad idea, the remove would reduce wear and tear on the unit. Until we lose the remote. of course.
