I love this! I think what keeps Toby out of Oz is fulfilling his addiction. He no longer has alcohol, but he has Chris. I’m sure Toby loves him, but it’s also an addiction. My gut tells me Chris will get sent back... he will do something stupid. I just hope Toby and his kids come out minimally hurt.

Wow. This was really good, and very well-written. You say so much in so few words. Each section of the story is important and builds on the others.

I love how it shows each of them struggling in their own way with life outside Oz, reminding us of what complex people both of them are. Even when they are as "happy" as they could possibly be, Chris is still dangerous and Toby will always struggle with his addictions.

LOVE the chameleon metaphor. Spot on.

And I loved this line. You used it brilliantly.

These brief vignettes say a lot, and leave room to read between the lines. This seems a realistic scenario- it's not easy, not all roses on the outside, it's work. But of course, that is them. Very nice.
