Neevebrody--Very nice artwork and one of my choices for my three. I like that things outside my usual are starting to 'speak' to me. lol.

Blackchaps--Very nice story.

blackchaps - This is an incredibly powerful take on both Said and living in the hole. It works particularly well because Said strikes such a contrast -- his beliefs sustain him but do not make him invincible. He has to remind and dedicate himself over and over again. Part of that is faith and part of that is desperately needing an anchor to latch himself too...because the alternative is frightening and overwhelming. And yet even with that faith, he is human and filled with flaws just like anyone else. At least, what he sees to be a flaw (giving himself over to sin - lust, desire), but it's different from the guards who berate, ridicule, shame him and you capture that really well.

neevebrody - this is one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork. It's evocative. The interlay of images, the words, all work together to create this haunting experience.

neevebrody - Gorgeous artwork. I like the image of Tricia looking up to him and that at the point where he is "completely immersed" in Tricia, he is depicted as something small. Excellent way to capture his mindset within the art.

blackchaps - Nice take on Said's internal war. Those thoughts that come into his subconscious when his guard is down and the way he wills himself back to the person he wants to be are handled beautifully here.

Blackchaps: I really love this story. I'm not sure what I was envisioning when working on the art - perhaps Said's struggle with his faith, with self, with the many, many things that threatened to bring him to a lower place day after day. I don't think you could have matched up what I was thinking any better. What I like best is that Said comes out on the other side with a better understanding of himself as a man and Allah as his God. What I enjoyed was his struggle with the way he saw things before.

It's definitely a story I'll read more than once.

Funny thing: this is the only art piece I requested! I just loved the pride and hopelessness in it, and once I sat down to wrie, the words just tumbled out. I'm just tickled pink you liked it and we meshed together so well! Also? The title was great. My titles always suck, so it was a relief to have a built in one! lolz

Thank you! *HUGS*
