katej - This is one of the most powerful, evocative pieces of art I've seen. The composition is gorgeous with images bleeding into each other. The colouring is powerful, strong and extreme. And the effects, the fractures in Chris' face, the imperfection of the images, is striking and tells a million stories.

cmk418 - Really nice use of Humpty Dumpty and Chris cynical self-loathing. I like that he compares himself to Toby, reveals that bit if humanity beating below the skin, yet is ultimately resigned to his fate.

hth - Wow. I feel like there are no words to adequately convey how much I adore this story, from start to finish and everything in between. It's an uncompromising look into Chris' psyche and you pull no punches, make no attempts to "pretty up" the reality of who he is, what he's done, how he feels ( ... )

Thank you! The artwork itself really made me feel for Chris and those parts of himself that he'd never get back.

Wow. I honestly wasn't expecting the fics to be this amazing. I'm so happy!

hth- i absolutely love how you took the idea of Chris being so broken that he can't see anything past his own cynicism and doubt. it's like there's a part of him underneath that's struggling to come out of it, to believe he wants more than what he thinks he deserves. I love how you really got into chris's head. I love this line:

"But if the Beecher that Chris wanted to wreck is gone now - and the one Chris wanted to welcome him home is even longer gone - then who's breathing above him in the darkness, squirming restlessly, snuffling and humming like he just can't get right, can't find his rest? Who the fuck is this?"I just love that line on so many levels. I love how he's sort of afraid of toby.... of his own feelings ( ... )

Katej - your art is always remarkable but this banner surpasses all. The way you use Keller's library pic and make it seem an old master painter's work is unique. The coloring of all the art is amazing, too.

Cmk418 - I take this drabble as a 'Keller survives' story, but he's so hopeless, he's been losing so much through his life how's he going to stand on his feet again ?

Hth - I'm always very intrigued by Keller's early relationship with Vern. I always thought it was more than a simple master/prag one. You give a very real and plausible view of it.
Plus, seeing Operation Toby and all its aftermath, from Keller's POV, is such a mind-blowing trip!

See, this is why I don't write 'Keller survives' stories - they're too depressing.

Thanks so much for reading!

katej: This graphic is just gorgeous! Love your idea of the broken shell pieces fused into the Chris image. It really tells alot about him and his life story. The coloring is so fresh and bold. The one image of Toby is also great because even though you cant see his face, you can see him embracing Chris which says it all. Wonderful work! :)

cmk418: Great idea putting a mother goose story like humpty dumpty into your drabble about Chris. He has always been broken. He lived a harsh life and this shows how hard he's falling. Brilliant! :)

hth: This fiction is so powerful! How you fitted his past relationship with Vern, compared it to what he has now with Toby and how he struggles to figure out what he feels for Toby is true love. It's heartbreaking too how Chris feels so alone, his whole life thinking noone will ever miss him when he's gone. Just a wonderful story! :)

Thank you! I think there's a lot missing from Chris' life that he should have, but has been taken from him, either by his own hand or by someone else.

I'm glad that you liked it!
