This is our 10th DRABBLE TREE! It's hard to believe that we've made it this far. There may be a special bonus for anyone who contributes more than 10 drabbles to the tree, but you'll have to wait and see! If you want, take a look at the other nine drabble trees: The First Ever Oz Drabble Tree, The Return of Oz Drabble Tree, The Little Oz Drabble Tree That Could, Are You There God? It's Oz Drabble Tree, Oz Drabble Tree Knows Best, In Oz Drabble Tree, No One Can Hear You Scream, This Is An Emergency Oz Drabble Tree, Please, Sir, May I Have Another Oz Drabble Tree?.

The Rules

1. Oz characters, please. Crossovers with the usual suspects are also welcome (SVU, Wanted, Homicide, Fringe, Lost, The Wire, The Unusuals, etc).

2. Het, slash, gen. Any character or pairing. It's all good.

5. Include a word, phrase or sentence from a previous drabble in the tree. Put it in the subject line and bold it in your drabble.

6. You can riff on any drabble in the tree. Just reply to the drabble you're riffing from.

7. Write as many drabbles as you want.

8. Drabbles only, please. No comments. Show your appreciation by jumping off someone else's drabble.

9. You can leave comments for the writers at the announcement post at oz_rapsheet

10. The Drabble Tree will run for a week or two; if there's enough interest, we'll keep it running longer. When it's over, post your drabbles to your own LJ and/or archive them.

11. RPS is allowed; please put RPS in the header of your drabble. If you don't want to read RPS, then pay attention to the headers.

12. Have fun! :D

Here is our starter ficlet, provided by dustandroses:

Remember To Keep Holy

Ryan sat at the back of the cafeteria, watching as Mukada spouted his
supposed wisdom at the assembled men. He doubted more than a handful
of them were actually listening to the sermon. He sure as hell
wasn’t. They were all sitting here at eight in the morning because of
one reason: boredom. Sure, sermons on the Ten Commandments were
boring, too, but they beat staring at the same four walls all day
long. So he came to services every week and tried to keep Cyril
quiet, which was damn difficult with Father Mukada doing the
preaching.

Nothing against Mukada or anything, he actually liked the guy. He had
a dry wit that Ryan appreciated, plus he was kind to Cyril, and that
went a long way in Ryan’s books. He wasn’t like the other hacks in
black Ryan had known; he never raised his voice, or lashed out in
anger. But that soft, gentle voice of his made it easy to let the
priest’s words flow over and around Ryan while he stared at the backs
of the heads of his fellow cons and wondered what they thought about
Thou Shalt Not Covet.

Hell, coveting was what got most of them in here in the first place.
Looking at the row in front of him, Ryan came up with sentences for
murder, extortion, rape, armed robbery, assault and distribution of
controlled substances. Jesus, was there anything these guys wouldn’t
do? It all boiled down to hunger in the end - the hunger for more
than rightly belonged to you.

Ryan had scraped and fought for every ounce of jizz he could get in
this hellhole. Respect equaled power, everyone knew that. But power
was closely guarded and never easily given up. It was an uphill
battle, but it was the only battle worth fighting in the end. Ryan
had no real interest in being at the top. He’d seen how quickly the
leaders here in Oz could fall. At the top, he’d be far too big a
target for everyone else with hunger pangs.

No, Ryan just wanted respect.

He wanted to make sure that no one, not even Vern-fucking-Schillinger
could get away with making a target out of his little brother. Cyril
still had nightmares about the ‘bad man,’ and Ryan could do nothing
but hold Cyril as he wailed. Sometimes Ryan sat there long after
Cyril had cried himself back to sleep, thinking of the things he’d
like to do to that Nazi bastard. They made such a big deal in Sunday
school about cursing, stealing and lying, but they left you totally
unprepared for the real monsters in the world.

Well, this time the monster wouldn’t get away with it. Rape was all
about power, who had it and who didn’t. Schillinger may have the
Aryans and the bikers on his side, but nobody raped Ryan’s brother and
got away with it. He’d get his revenge, and everyone would know. No
one messed with Ryan O’Reily.

ETA: Oh, damn. Forgot that LJ no longer has subject lines. Sorry scissorknot. NEW RULE: Please put warnings and titles in the first line of your post. And remember, Dreamwidth has subject lines!
