Real Madrid 8-0 Levante

Dec 23, 2010 09:52

Xabi played the full ninety minutes in Real Madrid's hammering of Levante yesterday. The scoring difference hadn't been this large since 1990 when there were also two hat-tricks. Not going to lie, I felt a little bad for them but in the end it's a wonderful win that practically sees the team through to the quarterfinals- something that hasn't ( Read more... )

Haha you mean with Granero? I would like to see how this turns out and I'm hoping Mou has the same curiosity. Being honest, the rival is not a really an accurate measuring stick and I'd want their partnership tested against teams of different caliber/style.

Let's hope it's now and onwards in the cup, definitely!

What about the comm? Do you love us :D?

DO IT!

OMG I feel you about that bitch, I had to listen to it at least 4 times and it hurts my confidence, seeing how I just came back from a job interview inw hich I stated I was bilingual. WHAT IF I HAVE TO WORK WITH THIS WOMAN?

I won't keep moaning in pleasure at this game here, let's just say UNF and leave it at that.

lol but he lived surrounded by scousers for 5 years, if he could communicate with Carra then he can understand virtually everything.

Xabi has an advantage here; he spent five years listening to Scouse accents, so hers shouldn't be any problem for him.

I'm a native English speaker from California (many people say our English is as accent-LESS as you can get). I can understand everything she says, but I did notice that some of her vowel sounds are a bit strong. She speaks at a moderate pace, though, so that may have helped me.

When I was in Italy, one of our tour guides had done a study abroad in London. She said she preferred the American English accent because it was easier to understand. Maybe the Brits throw you for a loop?

(I believe the interviewer is Kay Murray. She's from Middlesbrough. I have no clue if that makes a difference.)

Here's a trnaslation of the interviewer, LOL:

1st question: "Xabi, what a way to end the year, and it just shows how important the cup is, doesn't it?"

2nd question: "What do you think about Lyon then, in the last 16?"

Yes, it's a bit of a shocker of an accent. (anyone care to place it? Sorry, I'm Aussie - I've only got a vague idea about the wonderful array of UK accents...)

I find it very interesting how English speakers in various parts of the globe perceive accents. I didn't find her accent that difficult. Maybe all that time I've spent watching old episodes of Never Mind the Buzzcocks on YouTube has finally paid off!
