I have now seen Return of the King for the second time.

This is definitely a movie that really needs to be seen on the big screen. *sigh* They're going to make so much money off me.

Ack! I still haven't seen RotK. I have TTT DVD sitting by my TV, I just haven't gotten around to watching it. And I refuse to watch them out of order. Tomorrow, I swear! I'll make myself sit down and watch!

And too bad about the ICQ. Yeah, ICQ is the goa'uld mother of all messenger services. All other messenger services are spawned from her "Uh-oh!"s. I'm only getting back on to chat with a few specific people. ICQ is like crack. It keeps you from getting much needed sleep.

I remember when everyone I knew had ICQ, and I was so mad because we were behind some sort of firewall that didn't let us have it! Grrr.

Then everyone moved to IM, kind of like fandoms flocking to Alias or HP or something. Are you on IM?

Oh, god, I had just banished that little Kokopelli kick-step from my mind and you had to go and bring it right back! It is I think the only truly snicker-worthy part of the entire trilogy, though I do tend to nod off during the Arwen scenes.

Muhahaha! It's really pretty awful, isn't it? I always snicker during that, during the Eye of Sauron darting around and desperately wishing it were the Hands and Arms of Sauron while the tower is collapsing, and during Denethor's fall off Minas Tirith. And any time Legolas says anything ala "The horses are restless" when one can plainly see the horses.

Rohan, Eowyn, Arwen

I've always totally loved the Rohan part--I first read the book when I had just finished studying Old English and reading Beowulf, etc. I was so taken with how Tolkien could bring that all so completely to life and be so accurate. Really love it.

Also, don't love Arwen--but have a huge double-sided movie poster of her, can't resist putting it in my window.

I adore them ^_^. And I love how they're pictured in the movie as well. They're so much rougher than the Gondorians, the wooden halls, the horses and animals, even the woolen clothing, as compared to the vast whiteness of Minas Tirith. The Golden Hall and Denethor's hall really bring home the gulf between Theoden and Denethor, the Riders and the kind of unsure Gondor army.

Arwen? Don't hate her, but she doesn't really interest me... I used to love the elves, but now, not as much, interestingly.
