I loved this book! I still have yet to read Nothing But The Truth (and a few white lies) but this was such a happy book, I couldn't help but be happy after I read it. :)

(Though, yes, the manga terminology was unfortunate.)

I looked up what her next book is and it appears about a girl born with a large birthmark on her face and the Asian goth boy she nearly runs over.

(I never got why people hated meatloaf! When I was little, I came home one day and told my mom about this American dish called meatloaf and she said, "Huh." A week later, she made some and I thought it was great! But like true Filipinos, we ate it with lots of ketchup.)

Dude, meatloaf with ketchup is the best thing ever. Wait, no, it is second to meatloaf with barbeque sauce (I LOVE bbq sauce. I will eat nearly anything with it).

I saw the bit about the Asian goth boy in her next book! I was very happy! I am hoping the girl is also POC but don't remember.

But yeah, this book just made me so happy! I mean, I also cried during quite a few scenes because I am a total sap like that, but I went to bed with this incredibly huge grin on my face. Her first book left me with the same feeling as well, though the first one isn't quite as deep-feeling as this one, if that makes sense. I still like it a lot though.

When I was younger, a lot of my friends didn't. They ate it with gravy or something. Which, I mean, is fine and all but ketchup + meatloaf = ♥!

I laughed out loud when you mentioned meatloaf! I read so many American books as a kid that mentioned it, I remember asking my mum once and she had no idea... I still don't really know, but now I'm a vegetarian so even though I moved in America I may never find out what it tastes like. Woe and tragedy. ;)

Hee, yes! I spent most of childhood wondering what Yorkshire pudding, plum pudding, and mincemeat pie was as well, and I was sooo confused about the not liking spinach thing, because all the spinach (and broccoli) I have ever had was stir-fried and pretty tasty. Now that I have seen canned spinach and boiled greens, the dislike makes much more sense!

Yes, me too - this is not a UK thing at all. And when I've had it I like it though I can see that it's the kind of thing that could vary wildly and be fairly nasty in certain circumstances.
