Aww, ratties!

I know Beard Papa's. I took Sherwood Smith and Alis Rasmussen there before Worldcon. It's one block from Furaibo.

Don't the ratties look so adventurous? Hee!

Mmmm, I am jealous and want to go back to LA and eat at Furaibo again. And then get cream puffs. Or ramen. Or the myriad wonderful things around that area.

Marvelous! I had just that day a few weeks ago, escorting an amiable Brit. What really struck me about the Egypt wing this time was its depiction of Egypt as a place for cultural fusion. Did you see the mummy that's just on your left as you go in to the Egypt wing--in the post-Ptolemy section? It's a marvelous example of cultural squash. I mean, first of all, it's a mummy, implying a lot of very non-Greek ideas about the afterlife. But the portrait on the front is straight Greek, right down to the curling hairstyle, and there are Greek letters written on the mummy's foot, next to either an eye of Horus or a falcon or something like that ( ... )

Yes, I remember those mummies! It was really interesting seeing the mummies with the Greek-ish paintings of the faces.

And that is the exact gown I was describing. I was just sad that we couldn't see the front of it, because it was so lovely.
