Black Friday

Well, actually it was quite fun. I suppose it was Black Friday for my wallet? Maybe more of a pink or pretty blue Friday for me!

So I managed to drag myself out of bed at the early hour of 11:30 (shhhh... my claim is that I'm still on West Coast time) in order to meet up with coffeeandink. Coffee was had (but not ink, which is probably a good thing), along ( Read more... )

Thanks for writing up Chikalicious! I wish I was there. You must write up the books later.

I have uploaded a photo of the strawberry salad to my gallery, if you want to see it. Also several of me reading Sarah Dessen's This Lullabye. I liked it.

Oh my god, you would have loved it. LOVED. Someday I have to go to NYC with both you and Mely and we will basically eat until we explode or something. I had so much food this weekend. I am so happy ^_^.

I saw the pictures! They're great! (also, I recognize the cover of the Dessen book, it's the first one of hers that I got)

Maybe we could all go together to...

a) NYC

b) Worldcon in LA

c) Wiscon.

I think that is a very, very good idea. Worldcon and Wiscon are definitely on my lists.

And also, I just saw The Interpreter. I liked that too. Silvia is like your perfect heroine, isn't she, except for not being a spy or an assassin.

Hee, the funny thing is that I never thought of it that way! (probably because she didn't have a gun) But yeah, I really liked the movie, and I love the not-quite-sexual-tension between Silvia and Tobin and the delicacy of the relationship. And Catherine Keener is awesome, as usual.

(hee, does this mean I can make you beta my fic?)

Hee hee hee, I can seriously see you going crazy all day ;P Good books, good food, good company,... sounds awesome! I def. wish I knew more New Yorkers when I was in the area, I tended to hang around with New Jersey-ans all the time, so very little city exposure :P

You must share book loot! ;_; i am so poor! No books for the chi! *cries*

I think the layer of jam is to prevent the cream from soaking into the pastry and making it soggy. Some patissiers use a very thin layer of marzipan for that, I think.

Ooo, I've never had the jam or the marzipan before! For some reason, all the tarts I've had have had a thin layer of chocolate (I'm not complaining, as chocolate is its own reason for being, but the jam was a really cool change and went well with the rest of the fruit).

Oh! I am so sorry about the being stuck outside for an hour. I knew we should have waited in Starbuck's until your sister called.

Oh, don't worry about it! I felt rather bad keeping you out, what with tiredness and Martian death plague.

Plus, it means I finished Pretties already ^_^.

On the minus side, it means I desperately want to read Specials now and have to wait.
