I ate so much! We had hamburgers from the Creamery the first night, and I swear, they have the best hamburgers in the world. Ok, maybe not all the world, but it's close. Also, the mint oreo shake was not bad ;). Pizza the next day (thin crust... I am not a deep dish fan). Dim sum the day after, in which I ordered way too much. Heh. But! Fresh ( Read more... )

That is the best back blurb ever, though yeah, one wonders how the author felt about it.

I hope you like the Dick Francis - Banker is one of my favorites of his, along with The Danger and Proof. And The Egypt Game! I must reread that soon (I say that a lot, I think). Beware the sequel, though; it's not nearly as good.

Hee, I know!! And in the same used bookstore, I found that they have this eensy section of pulp fiction, with wonderful blurbs. I mean to buy one some day, just because they crack me up so much.

If you like the Dick Francis, my favorites are the two featuring ex-jockey(surprise, surprise) Sid Halley. I wish I could remember the books' names but I left all my DFs back in MO when I moved to CA.

Those are Odds Against and... I think Whip Hand. The former is the one that opens with him getting shot in the stomach. It's one of my favorites too.

The Egypt Game is lovely. That, and The Changeling are my two favorite books by Zilpha Keatley Snyder.

What I love about Zilpha Keatley Snyder is that her books could easily go with the message "the world is a strange place" or "the world is not as strange as you think," and instead she does "the world is a strange place, but not necessarily in the ways you think," which is much more interesting than either of the above.

Ratses!

I love the stacked rats pic!

Today both of them were squished into the teeny tissue box -- have no idea how they find that comfy, but I guess they like the small spaces.

Anyway, it was really cute!
