I swear, I was good for the past few months, but I went into B&N today and left with three more books, once again proving that my natural state of being is that of never being able to turn down a book. In my defense, I found two of them in the bargain bins for $4 each.

Loot includes Isabel Glass' Daughter of Exile, which also proves that I ( Read more... )

I love Judith Merkle Riley's stuff, although The Master of All Desires isn't my favorite of hers (a friend ranks it first, although she may just be a sucker for disembodied talking heads). My favorite of Riley's books is The Oracle Glass, which is a story of the witches of Paris during the reign of the Sun King. I highly reccomend it. Her other books are also quite good, especially the duology A Vision of Light and In Pursuit of the Green Lion.

I'm a new knitter, and well on my way to finishing my first scarf. I'm so very geeked *g*

LOL! Disembodied talking heads! Sorry, can't process the rest of your doubtlessly good comment because I'm giggling so much.

Except... you knit! Whoo!!! Go you and your first scarf!

I got to read Melusine last week courtesy of my local library. I'm a bit touch and go with that genre of story, so I'm generally more cautious in spending my money on it. I think it had some flaws, but was a great read. If I recollect rightly, I had to wait for a couple other people to finish it before I could get to it, so perhaps you can sign up on a waiting list for it at your library if you don't want to spend the money right away. I probably will buy it relatively soon so I can have my own copy on hand.

I had a day of fantastic finds at a used book store Saturday (Christopher Moore, Ian McEwan, and Michael Ondaatje) - they all look so great I don't know which one to start first. I love when that happens!

Ooo nifty. I think I shall wait for a while and put it on hold or something, given the frightening height of my pile of books to be read.

I am vicariously pleased by your bookstore finds as well!

I read Juliet Marillier's latest recently, and wasn't terribly impressed. The mixture of magic and history didn't gel for me, and the hero was not very interesting. The tension between nice druids/nasty Christians and a really horrific druid ritual was intriguing, though.

Hrm, ok. Yeah, Foxmask really irritated me, so I wasn't quite sure.
