Oooh, I really love this! I had a vague idea for a fic that followed Coward's gradual descent into Blackwood's world, but you've captured their relationship beautifully through your vignettes, from its inception as students to the world-weariness of politics and finally the dark, power-hungry side of Blackwood's world. I also really like how you've added historical tidbits, such as Coward's parentage and the date of his promotion to Home Secretary, it makes everything feel that much more authentic. My favorite is the last line - how all the conjuring tricks are stripped away, and Coward has no regrets.

Love to see more of your work in the fandom ^_^.

It was an aim of mine to track the gradual descent - Coward, in my mind, unlike Blackwood, is not a bad person, he's just had his life usurped - so I'm happy that it worked. I worked a lot on the background and dates and shizz so it's lovely to hear that it worked as well!
