Writing and stuff

Nov 05, 2012 18:40

I've accidentally written over a thousand words on my yuletide story today. Oops. I meant to finish reviewing the canon first, but I got two lines in my head, started writing, and sort of kept going. It definitely helps that my recipient's ship is so very much my ship, and the more I write them, the more I'm crazy about them. A lucky match! Speaking ( Read more... )

Best icon ever.

And yes, very noisy outside. In this neighbourhood, though, one can only hope it's fireworks.

Hahaha, I just changed the icon to a Chicago Fire one! But assuming you mean the writing one, yeah, it's awesome!

I hope for your sake it is all fireworks!

LOL! Yes, I noticed that just AFTER I posted the comment! Doh!

There's now pretty blue flashing lights and sirens to go with all the fireworks down the road... *sigh*

Reading is just so classy. Or something.

For a moment I thought 'yay, another Chicago Fire fan', but then I guessed it was the original icon. *g*

Yikes, much as I love fireworks, I hate that there are always people who are stupid with them. So glad I'm not working tonight!

If you're just looking for someone to catch the "Briticisms" then I'm willing to beta. I don't know the show or the characters, but I can tell American dialogue from British.

That'd be really cool, thank you! I need someone to de-Brit (there needs to be an American equivalent to Britpick!) one of my yuletide treats, and the Chicago Fire fic, so perhaps I could send whichever one I finish first (maybe tomorrow, maybe later in the week), or the yuletide treat if someone who knows Chicago Fire offers? Neither will be long, but they both have dialogue, and I always fail somewhere with American dialogue!

Hey, just wanted to say thanks, as it was your posts that got me to start watching Chicago Fire. I missed the first two or three eps and will have to catch up on them eventually, but I dove right in a few weeks ago and have been enjoying the show very much. So thanks for that. :-)

Yay, I'm so glad I got you into Chicago Fire! Do try to catch up, because there's quite a lot of important set up in the pilot. I'm really glad it's gradually getting more viewers - hopefully the fandom will grow too.

Hi! Wow, that's a lot of words on Yuletide so early in the game. But all I can say to you + writing is, yay! :D

I always like to make an early start on my yuletide fic - if it isn't at least nearly done by the end of November, I start to worry!

I hope you've got a good assignment!

You know, each and everyone of those things you listed for Chicago Fire fic are the things I want too. I'm so glad it's not just me who wants all the CF, but mostly all the Severide fic. Because he's awesome and just... *flaily noises*

With every episode, I love Severide more and more. The way he was with the old man who was trapped in the second episode and the old man's wife, and the way he was so protective of the old lady who kept getting firebombed. And that moment in your icon, where you can see he's just hurting for Lesley.

I am SO glad Nikki is out of the picture - she really turned my stomach. If she'd been a guy, we'd never excuse the way she was pushing herself on Severide. And it was obvious she was into him as a firefighter, not for himself - that scene where she makes him keep his helmet on, urgh. Hmm, can you tell I didn't like Nikki?! *g* Whereas, if we can't have Casey/Severide as canon, I'd rather like Severide and Peter Mills sister, because she is hot and clearly smart, and though they haven't interacted much, I like what I've seen of them together.

God, me too. He's good with people which fascinates me in a way because he could easily be played as just the cool firefighter. Someone you expect to be popular and a bit of a player or something, loving the thrill. I don't know... Maybe that's just me and what I expected? But yeah, they've been good at not doing that and that moment with Leslie, I was so done for and drawing big figurative hearts around him :D I'm curious to see if they've got some backstory going for him that they'll expand upon because they've brought up the marriage/engagement theme with him several times now.

Ugh. She was. Just ugh. The pushing and objectifying was bad enough but doing it while being engaged, hell no. Yep, I'd really love Casey/Severide too (and there's been a gross lack of scenes with them!) but I'm not holding my breath so Elise/Severide is something I could get behind as well. They had a spark that I liked in those two very short scenes.

Yeah, they've made him far more interesting than I expected, probably the most rounded character of the bunch so far. And yes, I'd love to see what sort of backstory they might bring up.

Ah, yes, Elise is her name - I couldn't remember it. We seem to be incredibly in sync on what we want. Including more Casey and Severide interaction!

BTW, why has nobody written Severide and Leslie at the strip club yet?!!
