Ah I'm loving all the details you've given here. The way you've dealt with Charles' paralysis is wonderful--there's not enough fic that dwell on it in the fandom, which is understandable enough, but still. And your Raven is such a dear, caring for her brother, reading to him for two years. Oh my heart. *sniffs* And I love the reveal of Erik being the other driver, I wasn't expecting that.

Thank you! I was somewhat limited in being able to get inside Charles' head and imagine how he'd deal with the paralysis - trying to guess how someone would react to something you've never experienced is tricky - so I'm really pleased that aspect worked for you.

And I love the reveal of Erik being the other driver, I wasn't expecting that.

Also, also, Charles being all methodological by determinedly checking out his theories regarding his memories one by one was fabulous, it was all very scientist-y of him. His inner strength and fortitude at the face of his problems were well drawn and lovely to see, even though half the time I was more than a bit suspicious that he was actually going crazy.

I'm so glad you picked up on that - I thought Charles would be very logical in his methods, for all his desperation.

Also yay, I rather hoped it would be hard to tell at first if Charles' mind had been altered or if he were going crazy or what!

You might have realized this but--there is actually a high school that is next door to the CIA up at Langley, called Langley High School. I went there for several years, so of course I pictured Charles showing up at my old high school when he expected to find mutants. I'm still giggling.

This is a terrific story, I can't even tell you.

It's been so long ago, I've forgotten for sure, but I have a feeling I did google the high schools. But haha, I didn't expect someone who'd been there to read this - that must have been a bit surreal!!!
