A season one story! I hope it's not been jossed by anything this year (I have major catching up to do.)

I'm a non-believer, but I'll pray to you every day [Supernatural, Sarah Blake, brief Sam/Sarah, PG, 1,312 words. Beta thanks to girlmostlikely. Title from Basia Bulat's Secret.]

You have to believe a lie that big. )

fiction: supernatural, fiction, fandom: supernatural

I didn't realize when I started that this was entirely outsider POV--which I normally don't care much for--but I always liked Sarah and I enjoyed this very much. I love the idea of practical, sensible Sarah setting out on a road trip to find the guy that got away, or just adventure, or whatever. (Probably at least partly because I'm currently planning a 3000+ mile road trip for July, wherein there are plans to meet many fangirls while taking life as it comes--at the age of 48, after 29 years of marriage and after 4 children. *glee*)

In other words, thanks for this. :D

Thank you--I'm super excited!

I also wanted to say that I listened to a podfic of your GK story, "The Ending Earth" yesterday and I really enjoyed it. (Podfics are a pain to track down the links for, I find, which is why I'm cheating and commenting here. *g*) I just recently got into GK, and I have a hard time deciding whether Brad or Ray is my favorite character, but I think Brad/Nate is the only pairing I'd really ship.

Anyway, I enjoyed the way you got them together in this, the thought of Brad getting off on the sound of Nate's voice, then later, the time you took to establish the understanding enough between them that Brad knows enough that when he puts his hand on Nate, he's not going to get punched in the face, and yet acknowledging how unacceptable this all is in their society. I always think that's a really tricky line to walk with any slash, but particularly in an environment like 1st Recon. Great job.

It's so great that people are still getting into GK. I was a bit late in the day with it (about a year after it first aired), and there are tons more fans now than when I first watched it. I'm very much a Nate fangirl, so basically I approve of just about any Nate-centric fic (unless he's paired with Ray, which I just can't! *g*).

Glad you enjoyed 'the ending earth' - it was one of my first GK fics, and it was a brilliant challenge to work a relationship between Brad and Nate into canon events.

I always want to know more about the people they left behind. This is really insightful, I think.

Really gorgeous! I really enjoyed Sarah, so revisits are always a pleasant thing to find. How does her road trip go? Does she find any of what she's looking for?

Thank you!

I see it as probably the first of many roadtrips - she'll keep coming home, because she has her father and the business to help, but once she starts learning and knows she can help, she'll start finding things/people she can help or at least help to help themselves.
