Thing one. A very random poll.

Poll
Thing two. I need help with some projects. Weirdly specific help, (a) from someone from the Southern US, and (b) from someone who likes American sports. If you're up for answering such a vague call for help, email me please! It's important - help! All sorted! ♥

Thing three. tikiberry links to awesome petri dish art - ( Read more... )

writing, poll, help

The only Mabel I've met was an elderly woman who worked alongside me at a volunteer food bank event. Very sweet. She was somewhere between seventy and eighty years old, most likely.

It strikes me as a sweet kind of name, somehow. I can't imagine an unpleasant Mabel.

The only Mabel I've ever known is the baby from the show Mad About You. God that was so long ago....>:P

I don't think I've ever watched that. Though I have this vague feeling Eric Stoltz guested on the show, and I tried to find that episode and couldn't. Knowing me, I have completely the wrong show in mind! *g*

When I was in kindergarten I had a Spanish teacher named Mabel (pronounced Mah-bell) who was a chain smoker. She pretty much just sat us in front of the TV to watch Muzzy... yeah, she got fired. lol.

I think everyone has some association with the name, whether a rhyme or person - it's fun to see how everyone else sees it.

(The Mabel that first occurs to me is the one from Gosford Park.)

Also, some ~ turn of the century slang: "Ain't it awful, Mabel!" Though I have no idea of the provenance.
