I think Lucifer was sacrificing the rest of the town--women and children and non able-bodied men--to raise Death. Don't quote me on that, but that's what I garnered.
I think sinecure's right as to what Lucifer was up to. And there were things I loved about the episode - the cinematography, and Crowley (love that actor - he's always great at portraying evil characters you can't help sort of like), and for a while, Jo and Ellen's return and the teamwork going on. But the show feels too patchy lately - I love an episode, don't the next, there's no cohesive feel to it like there used to be. *sadface*
I cringed sooooooo much watching last week's episode.
This week seemed a little pointless. As others have pointed out, there was no reason Dean couldn't shoot Meg. Why did it take Castiel so long to get free?
And whyyyyyyyyyy did Bobby burn the picture? I hated that.

I took a quick look, a few minutes in, watched for a few seconds, and turned it off quickly before I started wincing too badly - I really like the fourth wall when it comes to my TV shows, and breaking it down, especially like that, just throws me straight out.
I don't mind too much if there are little things that don't add up, but the questions you mention are just too big - bad writing!
A bit of fun is okay - I mean, they were poking fun at themselves with Chuck. But Becky is going too far (and I say that without even having seen the previous episode). I just don't see why they had to write either of them - the show would be much better without them, imo.
