I'm trying to figure out if my goosebumps are from the air suddenly coming on, or from your story. So much pathos from that image of a sad boy watching a father he can never talk to, never know. I'm inclined to think it was your story. Lovely.

This actually felt like watching a scene from the show, so perfectly in character. This bit especially:

And sometimes his body gives him away (blurts out a warning that's as obvious as a beacon to Cameron) even if he doesn't say anything

because John seems to do that all the time in my opinion. Nicely done :)
