You hit the nail on the head, here; the isolation of being cut-off from the rest of the team was what would really "get" to Daniel, and one of the most touching aspects of Continuum to me.

Thanks so much! I was really hit by how awful it must have been for them to be separated, not just in another timeline, but without their team.

Hi there!

I wasn't able to participate in your last porn battle because I stumbled onto it too late, but I thought it was amazing and wonderfully organized.

I'm considering doing a porn battle for the X-Files fandom. Would you mind if I adapted your rules/FAQ our our battle, with all credit given to you? I figure, why reinvent the wheel when it's already been beautifully designed.

But if you'd prefer I didn't adapt from your rules, I understand.

Thanks for the kind words! And please do use the rules/FAQ and adapt to suit - it's great seeing porn battles springing up all over, and it's always nice to be credited for the idea.

kellifer_fic pointed to this, so glad she did and sorry I missed it before -- what a wonderful, spare, down-to-the-bones portrait. The paragraph about how he isn't making friends even though it's easy for him and people are drawn to him strikes me as the saddest thing. Everywhere he's re-located to before, whether he had a choice about it or not, he established relationships, but here he feels he can't. Makes sure there's nothing to tie him to this timeline, nothing - no one - to make him regret leaving it -- that self-isolation is heartbreaking. And the parallel between the cut-off limb and the cut-off team ... owwwch. Also love the description of him at the shooting range. Great stuff.

Thank you so much! I had no confidence in this piece (which is why I hid it in a post full of other things, which is no doubt why you didn't spot it *g*), so I'm really glad to hear it resonated so strongly with you! I just remember watching the movie and thinking of him that being without the team was the worst thing for him, far worse than losing his leg. That he'd been part of a team for so long now, gone through so much together, and suddenly he'd had that torn away from him. Gah, I really felt that.
