Gilmore Girls Drabble: "Lorelai's Little Girl"

May 17, 2007 21:15

Lorelai's Little Girl [Gilmore Girls, Rory, Lorelai, gen, PG, 100 words. Written for this week's 100_coffees prompt, like mother, like daughter. A missing scene from the series finale.]

3 a.m., and Rory's tiptoeing upstairs.

She doesn't really mean to. She just wakes - a nightmare maybe, a sound outside, she doesn't remember - and sleep's gone.

So now she's sitting on the edge of her mom's bed, watching her sleep, and wondering if Christiane Amanpour felt this scared the night before she left home. If anyone has ever felt as young and unprepared as Rory does right now.

Her toes are cold, so she lifts the comforter and slides underneath. She'll have to be a grown-up in a few hours, but for now she can still be Lorelai's little girl.
