Thank you! And hee -- that sound effect was fun to write. It's the kind of sound everybody makes sometimes, but unless you're in a comic book or dialogue fic, you can't really use "...?" as your line. ^_^

Oh my goodness, this is so sad in it's inevitability, but in the way they both build the lies around each other to make it safe enough for the moment, it's so trusting. And carefully done, and elaborate, the lengths they will go to for each other, and the way they'll never ask for the letter or the promises to be fulfilled.

Spike had this spot at the back of his neck. The first time Angel had noticed it had mostly been by accident. They'd been fucking in the dark, hard and frantic and fierce, the third time or the fifth time or something like that, Spike struggling and swearing and twisting up for more under him, come on, you fucking, fucking, yeah, just like always, when Angel had scraped him there with blunt human teeth, and Spike had gone suddenly strange and pliant under him, on a long shuddering breath, head dropping forward. Angel hadn't had time to do more than notice it because he'd been coming right then, Spike following just after, but he thought about it later. Spike...pliant
