Battlestar Galactica - Flight of the Phoenix

David Hewlitt is British?! Really? Huh. How is it that I'm only just finding this out? Is his accent (as Rodney) any good?

I got the first season of BSG just yesterday, but I am so in love with this show already from watching the mini series and half my friendslist bullying coaxing me into fandom. And I have the Gaeta love. That was actually the point of this comment, to tell you how much I adore your icon.

Yay, so many people showing up recently with the Gaeta love!

I was late picking up on BSG too - I ignored mentions of it, because the title sounded really cheesy. I can't remember who eventually persuaded me to try it, but I'm glad I did!

As for the icon, I'm saving this version for me, but I have a textless version that I'm happy to share - just say if you want it.

I adore him. He's so smooth and professional, but there's a lot of hidden depths to his character. I'd love to see him just snap. And he has a tiger tattoo?

Oh, I'd love it! If you really want to share the textless one. *covets*

You should read Ingrid's story about how he got his tattoo - it's great fun. I'll just go and track it down... Here it is - Living

And here's the icon (I've already shared it with Ingrid, so I'm quite happy to share it again):

Lookit the bright side -- if he's a cylon, that means that he can pretty much never be off the show! So either way, we win.

That's how I look at it. Besides, Evil!Gaeta will be fun to watch, unless they only show him sporadically after his outing, like the other guy Cylons. Then I'll cry.

Then again, I'll have a wealth of Gaeta Angst for his reveal. Unless he's an aware agent, but that's good too. Heck, I can't find bad things in Cylon!Gaeta.

Oh, if he's a cylon but doesn't know it, there'll be so much Gaeta angst! *wibbles*

I feel like Tigh's been given a lot more depth in these past few episodes, and I find myself almost -- er. Almost starting to like him. His interaction with Tyrol in this episode made me about break for both of them, that Chief is so close to the end of his rope, and Tigh understands that only too well.

It's possible that I sort of enjoy the edgy fatalism, too.

I love to hate Tigh - I despise him, because he hasn't got the guts to admit to himself what a mess he's in. I don't like people who try to delude themselves as to who/what they are. But I'm glad we don't have a set of perfect leaders, because that would be unbelievable, whereas I can totally believe that events have conspired to end up with him as second in command of the last Battlestar. So I think that it's great that we have a character like him on the show, even if I don't like him.

Ah, poor Chief. He's really been put through it, on Kobol and on Galactica.

Well, I said starting to like him. I mean, I would hate, hate hate hate to have to work with him, or really even be within a hundred yards of him. But at the same time, I can see where his character's coming from and have a good deal of sympathy for that, if that makes sense.

And yeah, Chief. I just -- I just want to sort of gather him up and squish him and take him home and feed him some soup, you know?

He's not British. Not the David Hewlitt who plays Rodney on SG-Atlantis, anyway. :) He's Canadian. He worked for my dad before he moved away to LA to work. Trust me, no British accent on that boy.

Huh, that's weird. I had assumed he was Canadian, but www.imdb.com/ says that he was born in Surrey, England. Maybe he moved to Canada as a kid?

That is the case, yes.

Shucks. I thought it'd be really cool to hear him with an English accent.

I somehow expected them to keep her alive longer, and I'm pleasantly surprised that they're not doing that.

I'll be very surprised if she actually dies this soon into the run of the show. That's not a spoiler, BTW, just speculation.

I don't know - some producers do make bold moves. Joss Whedon used to keep us on our toes: he killed off a few characters very unexpectedly. And although I don't like to lose characters I love, I do like that nervous edge that such uncertainty brings to the show.

Heh, I really don't know, but it's fun to speculate!
