The official Tour de France site has streaming video of the race - I'd never thought to check for that before, so I cheered, clicked on the link happily thinking that'd be the perfect way to spend my lunchtime, and discovered it's only available to French viewers, for legal reasons. Phooey.

I found out about the streaming tour the hard way, too. Luckily, my boyfriend is housesitting at a house with cable. Find somone who has OLN!

I love the tour, it's so exciting!

I don't even know what OLN is - I doubt if we get that in the UK. It's one of the things I miss about living in Switzerland - we used to have a choice of channels to watch the entire race live, along with all the other major tours and one day races.

I really need to go and catch the road racing live again sometime soon.

I would love to see the tour live. Except, it's way too expensive for me, especially coming all the way from the US.

Maybe you could get to a more local race? There aren't many big races in the US, but there are some medium sized short tours and one day races worth seeing.

I feel kind of weird just showing up at your LJ and commenting but nevertheless just following rules! I found your site through your West Wing caps at cap_it and found it enormously resourceful. I would love to take credit for that icon, because I think it's hilarious, but that was made by the talented _jems_. I love the show too.

The icon is the very talented and gorgeous Rolf Sørensen, who's sadly retired now. It's not actually a shot from the tour, although he did win stages and wore the maillot jaune for several days.

I've been resorting to listening to a French radio station to get the action, at least at the weekend when I'm home during the race itself.

Do I take it from your icon that you want Ivan Basso to win this year?

Sørensen was a particularly good one day rider, and short tour rider (he was an excellent time triallist and could sprint well, but not hot over the mountains). He was unlucky never to win the World Championship (his best year he missed several races with a terrible hand injury). I still miss having him around to cheer on. Plus he was extremely good looking - I should get around to scanning some pictures I have of him, as there don't seem to be any particularly good shots of him online.

OK, will stop rambling on about him now.

As for this year's tour, I haven't decided who I want to win yet. Normally I know in advance who I want to win, and I sometimes do the fantasy league thing, but I've not been following the races so closely this year.

Well gosh, I don't know who to pair you with!!! LOL. Sam? Sure, let's pair you with Sam from The West Wing. But mainly cause that's my favorite icon of yours and my favorite icon of Sam period. The Logophile one. But he'd look good with a dark haired, green eyed girl, and hey... he's gorgeous and cute and adorable and a writer. Ya'll could stay up late hours, drinking coffee, talking about poetry, and writing.

I would have said Lex, but that might just be MY fetish. LOL!

Also, to let you know, I got this icon from you. I didn't find it on your LJ though, I found it on your website, so I couldn't comment to the post you posted it in. So I comment now!

Ah, someone's finally paired me! I thought I was going to be a lost little Signe-Sue with no one to save. *loves you*

And yay for Sam and coffee drinking and late nights talking. I like your choice. And of course Signe-Sue is a political mastermind. *nods*

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. The Sam icon, the Sam icon!!! I truly do fucking love that icon. Sam is woefully undericon'd in my opinion. Anyway. Sigh. I love that icon.

So yeah. And yeah, it is about time I got me a Clex icon.

I always have to have a Sam Logophile icon - me and Sam, we like our words. *nods*

This exact icon is all mine, and mine only, but I put one up on my site without the logophile text, so you're welcome to grab that if you like, for when you've got your full quota.

You should check out svroundtable some time. There are lots of fic recs there, usually Clex, and some fic discussion and ask the author sessions that might be interesting if you want to see what the fandom is like.
