I Never Really Liked Sunny Days

Jun 05, 2005 21:09

I don't know if anyone else will like this at all, but I wanted to make a work-safe, non-fannish wallpaper, and fancied trying a grungy style. I'm rather pleased with the result, so here it is in case anyone else would like to use it.

Yay, I always love to know that something I've made is being used.

Oh, that's brilliant. Haunting and creepy and just very evocative. I love it!

Hee, thanks! I actually took the photo on a lovely sunny day, but wanted to make it look menacing and gloomy - glad it worked!

Unfortunately, people were getting C&Ds over MPAA ratings. Mostly people who run archives. I haven't seen one uniform rating system yet, but my current favorite is the one on the House archive:

All Audiences -- Everything up to and including sexual innuendo/jokes
Over 13 Years -- Actual kissing/groping; moderate physical violence
Mature Audiences -- Non-graphic sex scenes; graphic violence; all rape/non-con (unless completely off screen)
Adult -- Graphic sex scenes; extreme violence

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

That House archive rating system is interesting - I would automatically want to classify non-con as the highest rating possible, whereas something like a fairly explicit, concensual blowjob I wouldn't give such a high rating. I remember discussing ratings on my journal ages ago, and authors were very varied in the way they rated their stories. But I digress...

Oh, pretty wallpaper! Shame that I don't ever see my desktop at work, cause that would mean closing Word and Outlook Express, which never happens.

I don't know if anyone got C&D letters. As a european, I'm totally willing to let them go through the trouble and try to sue me. The wonderful world of makebelieve uses a rating system that I've seen a lot now, it's explained here: http://www.squidge.org/~peja/cgi-bin/help.php

Glad you like the wallpaper, even if you can't use it!

I like that rating system, though I think I'd probably want to use the full text, rather than the abreviations, as too few people would be familiar with the shortened form. But certainly, 'Suitable For Older Teenagers' for example, with a note on my website that it's only been rated by myself, would be fine.
