I've been in Oxfordshire for a about a year now and I haven't made any friends around my own age (21). All my friends are older and not interested in going out at weekends or anything like that. So, anyone here in a similar situation, or anyone who wouldn't mind a fresh face tagging along once in awhile? Is there some sort of happening nightclub ( Read more... )

Oxford's nightlife leaves a lot to be asked for IME... What kind of stuff are you into?

At the moment? Anything that gets me out of the house and doing something fun. I just need to get to know people. I like almost all kinds of music except most rap/hiphop, if that helps at all.

There's a really good goth/industrial/EBM night called Intrusion down at the Cellar once a month. Me and my boyfriend (who are both Oxford locals) as well as some of my mates from uni (Reading) like to go there...you should check it out :)

There are sometimes good bands playing at the Carling Academy (formerly the Zodiac) on Cowley Road - both British and international acts. There are also club nights held there. There are various club nights in the city centre aimed at students, so that'd be more people your age.

1. "homoerotic violence" is the best interest ever.
2. The good news: I am looking for someone with whom to go out clubbing, specifically dancing. The bad news: Clubbing shall be limited to places playing metal/industrial/hard rock, world music, hip hop, tango, and breakbeats.

I absolutely cannot believe that I've taken this long to reply to you, what's wrong with me?? Anyway: if your offer is still open, I would love to go dancing with you. Where/when do you go?

Oh, splendid, better a late reply than none at all. I'm busy with academicness for exactly one more week, then I'll be able to go out most nights, although I do often have to work on Saturday nights.

I'm pleased to go just about anywhere that is not playing cheesy pop and tend to end up at the Cellar or the Purple Turtle, but am certainly interested in branching out.

Ooh, I go to the purple turtle, too! To be honest it's the only place I know.

I usually go out nights when I have off the next day, otherwise I head out at 11pm to catch the last bus home (if I have to be up early). I've never been to the Cellar.

i'm 23 and i have occasionally been known to go out at weekends. as long as you are who you say and not some 80-year-old dude with one leg and an eyepatch trying to seduce young males on the internet, give us a shout sometime, it'd be a pleasure to show you some of the cool places around this city!
