Well after a year living in the desert we are no longer NV virgins. We found a living SCORPION IN OUR GARAGE!!!!! We did have a momentary freakout and I doubt I will walk barefoot in the garage again

Get a black light bulb, they will glow green in the UV.

Oh, and if you get a small fish tank (a 2.5 gallon) with a light and put some sand in it, a bit of wood and other decoration you can keep it as a pet. Get a black light near the tank and you have disco death pets!!

P.S. the sting, while painful is like a nasty wasp sting, not deadly to adults. You can get crickets at the pet store to feed it.

When I lived in the wilds of OC CA we used to get tarantulas and rattlesnakes who were seeking water and cooler spots. Only a couple of scorpions over the years. I think where you are is probably a lot hotter and drier.
