Almost Time to turn off Updates for Win7/8

Essentially for those trying to avoid Windows 10 and all the backported spyware/nagware/etc that Microsoft keeps trying to inflict on Win7/8 owners, your Update checking will become much easier very soon!

Starting in October, Updates for those two systems will be the same as Windows 10 - essentially nothing more than a cumulative update. All or Read more... )

Hell, it's not like it doesn't already take Windows 7 more than just a couple of minutes to boot, even from an internal harddrive, at least on my machine. Taking a couple minutes to boot Linux from a USB drive wouldn't be a big deal for me at all. (Of course, first, I'd have to get a newer, more suitable USB drive.) And just a few seconds after being actually installed would be nice ( ... )

Oh, and remember the other day when I was complaining about some of their more recent updates not having a proper info page associated with them? Yeah. They've corrected that issue now.

One of those updates was a fucking "rollup."
