I felt that way about Jaime the first time I read the series. Not so much this time, although I do have some sympathy for him still.

You're the second person I've talked to who is convinced that Jon is Azar Ahai reborn. It's an interesting theory, but what about Maester Aemon and his conviction that the prophecy is talking about Danaerys?
