textbooks and shoulders

Oct 03, 2005 16:45

I was having a chat about RSI and physical therapy with one of the medical assisting teachers, and she was complaining about the monitors in her computer lab being too low. "If only I had some extra textbooks or something to prop them up." Well, I have approximately a zillion extra textbooks -- outdated books, old versions, books that we aren't ( Read more... )

My hair is very fine, straight, and slippery, and so normally when I put it up I end up re-doing it

Ditto. It is a nuisance. I suspect we both look like Hepburn in "The Lion in Winter". If you saw it, you must remember how her hair just sort of scatter-shot around her head. LOL

Fine hair is an abomination. Mine is like spider webs, always drifting across my face.

Having fine, slick hair is one of the banes of my existence. There's really not much one can do with it, although I've found a good cut helps. I have idly considered cutting it off, but it's been long for so many years that the very idea puts me into a sort of panic.

I haven't seen "The Lion in Winter" but I know the 'do you're talking about. It is rather like that.

I also have fine hair. I got a perm when I was 12 and it only stayed in for about 2 days- my hair is just too thin to support it. It's kind of annoying right now- not really long (I'm trying to grow it out), but not really short either. Meaning I really can't do much of anything with it. I've been considering getting it all cut off and having a boy haircut (but still nice-looking), but I don't think I have the guts to do it :)

I tried perms a couple of times. They held, but it took like 2 hours for them to set, and my hair felt totally fried for months. Not worth it. I've found that getting long layers is good for livening it up.

I grow weary of the restraining device, I think because I know the end is coming soon.

Nine Inch Nails! ...oh, wait, this isn't a song meme.

Now is this line the actual beginning of an NIN song, or does it just sound like something Trent Reznor would sing? Because if it's the former, I am very afraid...

I have clearly missed something here, what happened to you and what restraint are you talking about?

I dislocated my shoulder about a month ago. The "restraining device" is the immobilizer I wear to keep me from using it too much (I have been enjoying coming up with different weird thing to call it). You can read the whole saga, if you are so inclinded, by clicking on the "shoulder" tag.

I see, how, may i ask, did you dislocate your shoulder? It sounds very painful. I may well read the saga. Should i be prepared for a few grimmacing momnets?

Tripped and fell walking up the stairs in my apartment. The saga tells more. There may be some wincing, particularly in the post that describes the accident. It's not too bad, though.
