Contemplating writing goal options

I am looking at getyourwordsout and thinking semi-seriously about signing up. Given that I would have to average about 17k words a month to make 200k in a year, and in my biggest month that I tracked words last year, January, I only got a little over 10k (although thanks to FFEX I might have gotten a little more than that in September August), am I insane for ( Read more... )

You are possibly insane for considering it, but JOIN US. I'm within 2500 words of finishing and I'm signed up for next year already :D

It is mighty, mighty tempting. I know I've been lukewarm on wordcount-based challenges as effective writing tools for myself in the past, but I think I need the structure, and I think a larger community of writers would also be helpful. And the fact that it's draft words, which means I can count editing, gives me a *much* better chance of actually finishing, as does the apparent ability to count substantial LJ posts toward the total. (Unless I read that part wrong.)

I've been counting substantial LJ posts, as well as the 2000-words-at-a-time heaps of meta that Cel and I throw at each other :)

Excellent. Well, I pledged. Haven't heard back yet. Looks like next year, we will be going crazy together. :)

I'm thinking of doing the 250k MPP, it speaks to my inability to focus AND I can always count work projects if I get desperate!

If schoolwork and theses count, I definitely agree that work writing should count too. :) Unfortunately I don't write anything substantial enough in my job that I feel comfortable counting it towards the total...
