I always do memes in comments, it's one of my quirky habits. Or neuroses, depending on one's point of view. ;)

"A longer version enveloped the whole body, like a tunic, leaving sleeveless armholes and a slightly scooped neck. Still another version added short sleeves to a tied keyhole neck. In every case, however, the apparel followed the slim shape of the body and reached down the leg to the ankles. These democratic dresses were worn both by the lady of the house and her female servants.

At banquets, however, the lady of the house would never be mistaken for a servant, though the might be confused with the man of the house, for both male and females wore the same sort of fine dress, something very like the saris still worn in parts of India."

~Bob Brier & Hoyt Hobbs, Daily Life of the Ancient Egyptians

Our "hostages from the library" shelf is nearest to the computer, lol.

Oddly enough that reminded me of a book I read when I was younger, required for research on renaissance lady dress. O.o;

LOL! The thought had crossed my mind, but I'm glad I didn't. The passage probably would have fried my brain. x_x
