Food for Thought

So, I've been lately thinking about our favorite boys in 1965-1974 (pre-Roche case)...  this was the nostalgic point in the graphic novel, when Dan was fit/handsome and Rorschach was sane/articulate. And a lot of interesting questions came to mind ...I'm curious as to what you guys think.

1. When Nite Owl and Rorschach team up-- why would they team ( Read more... )

1. I agree that Daniel probably would have proposed that they team up, as Rorschach is totally socially awkward and probably wouldn't be the one to initiate any sort of social contact. Another theory I have is that Rorschach and Daniel happened to run into each other on patrol one night and just sort of became partners by accident.

2. I don't think it really bothers Rorschach all that much; he probably sees higher education as being too liberal anyway.

3. If they ever do talk about their past, I'm sure that would be something they could bond over. However, I don't think that Rorschach would be the type of person to say, "Hi, I'm Rorschach. My mother was a whore. It's nice to meet you."

4. I think it was for practical use, and I'm pretty sure Rorschach fapped cried tears of joy all night afterwards, like, "Oh, I finally have a friend!"

That was incredible. You just completely dissected Rorschach's character very well. I love your thought of how hard Rorschach is really trying...

"Dan is his first friendship, it seems, and they're not just friends, they're BFF, so I think Rorschach tried pretty hard the entire time to be a good friend to Dan. Though I don't think Dan could tell the extent to which this went for R. And R does betray a lot of 'human emotion' for someone so strange/outcast--i.e. when he says 'I remember, I used to come here often' (the owlbasement), and the 'you quit' line, and Dan saying 'he seems like he's trying to be friends'."

wonderful
