Hello all, I hope this is alright to post. I just wanted some feedback as to whether anyone would be interested in playing a new version of Mafia I'm working on. If there is interest, the game would hopefully start the 13th of August, with sign ups being sometime in the next two weeks. I know Teaotter wanted to run a game late august, so if her game is planned for too close I'll come up with another time slot. I'd still like to know what you guys think of this idea though! Its a bit like Clue Mafia, a bit like Crack Mafia, but with actual death!
GENERAL BASIS:
Everyone has a greatest fear, something that can chill them down to the core. Something, when in the wrong hands, could lead to their demise…
Everyone is assigned a fear(Or can pm me three fears which I will choose one of just in case of duplicates) NOT based on their characters. It is the other players job to guess each others fear. Each player can take a stab at guessing ONE person’s fear a night, and ONE person’s fear a day(guesses must be posted before the end of each cycle, I will have a screened comment section in each day and night post for guesses) If a players fear is guessed, they die. As there are no assassins, there would be no night chat, unless we play in a 'Team Mode', which would need a certain number of players.
Each day, every player is assigned an RP task. If they complete the task, they are given either a ‘Hint’ or a ‘Hindrance’ to use during the night. Hints and Hindrances will be randomized from a list.(First it will be a coin toss of if you get a hint or a hindrance, then the type will be randomized) Hints will give the player a hint to what another player of their choosing's fear is. Hindrances will be applied to a player of their choosing to hinder either their ability to perform their RP task during the day, or to mess up any hints/hindrances that player may have used/earned. For balance, players wouldn't be able to use their hint/hindrance on the same player two nights in a row.
There would be no roles, the hints and hindrances would take the place of nightly roles. I already have a list of some of each, Hindrances would be things like Silencing(Dentist/Other ways of silencing) during the day post, or switching/stealing Hints and Hindrance outcomes, and Hints would be different ways either I could give you hints, or force the player to give you hints via their RP task.
There are a few kinks I still need to work out, like whether I'd release a list of the fears given out so there wasn't an infinite number you could guess from, but also not make it too easy for you to guess someones fear from one clue by matching it to something on a list. I'd need more idea's for 'Hints' (I have all the hindrances I think I'd put in the game already). So feedback would be great, if you guys are interested, I can post the hints and hindrances and other information I have written down. I didn't want to make this post too obnoxiously long.
