Hey everyone. A good friend of mine sent me an e-mail about a contest to name the new seven wonders of the world. The Great Wall of China
Symbolizes not only the determination of a nation, but the determination of people as a whole, throughout generations.
The Colosseum
A testament to the great construction techniques of the ancient people
The Pyramids of Giza
Enough said :-P
The Taj Mahal
Its symbolism of togetherness despite adversity
Stonehenge
In tribute to the unknown aspects of an ancient culture
The Acropolis
A symbol of the ancient faith in what lies beyond what can be seen or measured
And I'm kinda torn for the last one. I'm debating between The Statue of Christ Redeemer, since it reflects my faith, but it doesnt have the wonder that surrounds many of the other choices (just like the Eiffel Tower). Then there is the statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and of new beginnings. The Petra showing the cohesion of humans and nature. And the Kiyomizu temple for the same reason as the Petra.
So thats my take.

Hmmm, this is tougher than I thought. Here are my picks:
Stonehenge, Britain
Great Wall of China
Colosseum, Italy
Angkor, Cambodia
Pyramid of Giza, Egypt
Easter Island, Chile
And for the final spot, I'm torn between:
Machu Picchu, Peru
Taj Mahal, India
I think my opinion is swayed towards the older structures. As amazing as things like the Eiffel tower and the Sydney opera house are, I really don't think the can compare to the Great Wall of China which took centuries to build, way back in the BC era. Now THAT'S hella old.
