this was very interesting to read - i am such a music geek. what voice part do you sing? (i am a contralto fyi) there are many objections I can raise to the way Arashi sings, but at the same time, i don't want them to try to sound like opera singers or anything. but i think you are dead on in everything you wrote. i find it funny that Nino can compose but often has difficulty grasping the key. i just don't understand how they can not get the key. it's pop music - the key is laid out for you - how much more obvious can it get? and what is the crying resonance? I didn't recognize the chinese characters.
haha sorry dude I didn't mean to embarrass you! and don't worry, i am no authority in singing either, so I really am not qualified to issue any opinions either haha. I have just been singing for... god is it 10 years now, also mostly choral singing. i was also told i was a mezzo when I went to voice training! haha. but i like singing alto - it's challenging and musically interesting. And i think I know what you mean about the crying resonance now. he also does it in his solo take me faraway after the long high note, right? (like "itsumade moooooooo woo" and on that "woo" part) I actually really like it in take me faraway, although I agree that it borders on the overly dramatic and pitch-uncertain

i agree with you on alto. the technique used during alto is different from soprano, isn't it? that's why it's so interesting. i find choral music so much more challenging than any other kind of singing. that's the beauty of it
