too bad the NRA has become such a mouthpiece for the republican party. considering Obama has done more for gun rights in recent years than bush ever did, and they still send out spam about the "evil gun-grabbing libtards" coming to take away your guns.

What has Obama done for gun rights? Barred the importing of the Korean War ear M1a's from being imported? Check.

What did Bush do? Let the Clinton era assault weapons ban lapse? Check.

There are gun rights advocates on both sides of the isles, but most of them are Republican, especially in CA where a law like AB 962 passed in a prodominately Democratically controlled legislature and by a governer who was Rebulican mostly in name only.

the fact of the matter is gun rights is in the same category as abortion for the republican party. they use it as a bully club to beat people into voting for them. IE - "vote republican or you won't be able to carry a firearm any more ever!" along with "vote republican and we really will abolish abortion this time. we mean it!"

Credit where credit is due, Obama did allow this. I'd still say in general that the Republicans are more for gun rights than most Democrats, but ultimately one must look at the individual voting record for each person involved. The NRA and similar gun groups try to lobby both sides of the isle.
