It's always exciting to see the first set from someone and I gotta say I really like your style, especially coloring and composition. These look very creative and pretty.
My favorites would be Hair Porn (love the composition and the combination of those soft yellows and greens. The text is clever and well executewd too), Iconic (love the coloring and the contrast), and the whole category is really lovely and unexpected with the combination of soft colors and grungy textures. I really like them all but cat3 works for me the best i think, the composition is great.
I also love how you brought out the bright red of his uniform in the ac set. Ac4 is my favorite of them and I also adore all your extras, especially 2, 3 and 6.
Great first showing, hope you liked participating and it would be awesome to see you on the following rounds too :)
oh, thank you so much for your nice (and detailed) comment!
I`m not into making icons for this long, to read something like this, this make me a happy camper. I`m anything but sure about what I do, and how.
Farscape is a huge, and old, love of mine. I just couldn`t resist signing up when I was looking for 20in20 comms. Farscape is a challenge for me, because I`m always fighting with the colors (main reason could be because I`m not using Photoshop). But, I try my best.
I had a lot of fun with these, so I guess I can say it won`t be the last time I`ve signed up ;D
Oh, what program do you use? I started with GIMP but quickly switched to PS. Most of the things I do however would be perfectly possible in other programs too, with the possible exception of Gradient Maps.
Also I'm a fellow texture addict ^^ which is why I'm planning on making my whole next set without any texture use - something I've never done before. Terrifying!
I`m using PaintShopPro9. I bought it years ago. I do have Photoshop CS2 also, and I know how to use it (I even got an official Adobe PS C4 certificate. But that`s been more to prove myself I can get the Adobe certification than to actually put it to use), but I still pefer working withPSP9.
What I miss the most is the selective coloring. PSP9 doesn`t have this feature. And no vibrance also, but this I`d be able to weasle my way around, if I want to have vibrance (PS CS2 also doesn´t have vibrance, so I can live without it) Sometimes I *cheat*, and use CS2 for some colors, but I always start & finish my graphics in PSP9.
At this point I`m still trying with Icons. Most of the time I end up with different icons of the same. So far I`ve always deleted everything without any textures, and started all over.
I`m working on a new 20in20 table right now, and once again I use a gazillions of textures, I can`t help myself.
No use of texture would be THE challenge for me. Cheers you, for trying without, I`m sure you`ll do just fine ;D
