The Highway Man

Pretty lyrics to a Lorena Mckennit song. The first half of it is just
beautiful (then it gets really depressing).
Been listening to this song for a while, had the general gist of it down
but didn't know the details until I looked it up.

Sounds like a neat song, i'm surprised I don't recognize it since I like her music.

It's the last song on her debute album "Belladonna"

I think Lorena Mckennitt butchered this poem.
It is supposed to be read with a heavy beat, like the drum horse hoofs. Not sung all breathy.

I read it at the NYSPA conference, after dinner during the amateur performance apart of the evening.

I was all choked up by the end.

Do you know where I can a copy of a reading like that? Yours would be great, but any in the cadence you're referring.

I absolutely love this song...I know it's kind of sick to like something with such dark direction so much, but something about it draws me. I was able to sing it in my sleep after only hearing it a couple of times. A little strange, but true. I woke up one morning and I said to D - I think I was singing that song last night, but I don't even know all the words when I am awake. His response was - You know them damn well when you're asleep.

I don't think it's sick at all to like. It's dark, but it's realistic. Life doesn't have a happy ending.

Singing it in your sleep? Sounds interesting. And I don't think i ever go to hear you sing.
