Hero Time the Fourteenth

Looks like some people are overreacting to yesterday's curse. I didn't think it was that bad. A little strange, maybe, but nice, overall.

Got a question, though.

Has anyone ever met anyone in the City who, uh...knew a whole lot about you even though you never met that person before? Just wondering.

[ooc: In response to this. Goku is... ( Read more... )

You pick up a stalker, or something?

That's the thing. I don't really know.

...Well, what'd they say about you?

Well...he recognized me right off the bat. And then he asked me if I was real. And after that he mentioned the names of some people from my world who aren't here and said I was famous when I know I'm not.

It was just...really strange.

I have. It's a little disturbing, isn't it?

Yeah. I think I could have handled it better, but- it was really strange.

He said I was 'famous'...but I know I'm not. It's just...odd.

It makes you think someone is always watching your every step, doesn't it?

It does! I even asked him if he'd been following me, but he said he hadn't and that's he'd read about me somewhere.

It's creepy!

There are people like that in this place?

Yeah. This is the first time I've met one, though.

It's kinda of...disturbing.

I haven't met someone like that, but that...it just sounds creepy.

...It is kinda creepy, yeah.

I don't think they mean any harm, but it's still pretty strange.

Yep. Some random punk came up to me and started talking about my family.

But it doesn't really count if they're from my future, right? Or claiming to be, anyway.

Er...well, if they're from your future, that's kinda different.

The person I talked to said that he read about me somewhere which...I dunno. It seems kinda hard to believe to me, but considering where we are, I guess anything's possible.

Yes. With the way the worlds intersect... some people know others in stories of kinds... This unworthy one has been told... his life is canonized in something called a 'manga'... The accuracy of some of the things he has been told are eerie.

He does not believe that the others from his world are aware of this. He isn't sure how to think about it himself, so he has not said anything to any of them... Though he will say that this sort of thing... seems more common than you would really think...

Seriously? That's- they make stories about us? No wonder he said I was famous...

I'm...not really sure what to think about that. I mean, I guess I lead a more interesting life than some, but- ...I dunno. It's not something I'd necessarily want people reading about.

This- 'manga' thing...do you know what it is?

Apparently...

The thought that disturbs this unworthy one more than anything... is whether those works are defined by his life... or if his life is defined by those works...

They are like books... or perhaps scrolls more accurately, only cut to fit pages rather than on one roll. He has not looked at them...

Even if... if they are accurate he could possibly get his answer... but he does not want to know. He will... find out when he is returned...

...That is a pretty disturbing thought. Honestly, I hope it's the former. Otherwise...I don't know. It's just...strange.

When you put it like that, I guess I don't really want to look either. The future...it's complicated. There was one time in my world when the son of a friend of mine traveled back in time to warn us about a pending disaster, but that's different from looking at your whole life on a page. I'd rather find out for myself what's coming than look it up in a book.
