Bake sale today.. about 35 sign ups for day of silence right off the bat, plus some nice fundraising. Then a rather lengthy meeting in which Marc attempted to run a major totalitarian state. You guys are doing the day of silence? no fair, they wont let us do it because the principle thinks that we just want to get out or participating during class. its not cool

I'm sorry.. that really sucks.. This is the 3rd year we're doing it but when I went to the meeting with the principal the other day he was worried about that too... The key point is GLSEN's whole "be reasonable" rule.. Once we explained that people are made aware that they have to speak if called on he was like, okay... but he should know what by now anyway... you should organize one with a small group around that premise anyway... not talk other than when forcibly called on in class.
