Mark looks up from a table of papers, and makes an exclamation in Yiddish. "Oy, Jamie, this isn't your living room." He stands, grinning. "How the hell are you? I've been trying to find where the fuck you are since your book came out."
"Okay..." he says slowly, "not that I'm complaining, but can anyone explain to me why there's a hotel lobby in my living room and why..." Blink. "Rubie?"
Jamie gets a crumpled bit of paper thrown at his head. "God, I haven't heard that name in ages." Mark grins. "Get your ass over here, and sit down. I'll, um, try to explain." Mark is, as he always has been, surrounded by film bits and paper scraps.
Just as Jamie enters the Inn, Otto, complete with camera, is coming downstairs. He beams at the sight of Jamie, although this is nothing personal. New people mean more subjects for iconography, and more experiments with colour, shade and light.
"Ah, somevun new! Velcome to zer Inn Outside." He begins setting up his tripod with the swiftness born of practice. "I am Otto Chriek, iconographer for zer Ankh-Morpork Times. Vould you mind, pliss, if I am taking your picture? It vill not take a moment. Und you haff a very interesting head."
All this is delivered with rather earnest enthusiasm and an anxious grin--despite the fact that vampires should absolutely never grin.
Jamie is not entirely sure how to handle the sudden appearance of a hotel lobby and a strange-looking man with a strange accent and a strange camera-like... thing.
"...Okay?" he says slowly, his feet bringing him to a halt without really thinking about it.
It takes more than a minute, of course, to prepare the plate and tell the imps exactly what he wants. But at last Otto has the flash ready and snaps the picture.
Unfortunately, there's too much flash.
"ARRRGGGH!"
And with that, he crumples to dust in an instant. But only for a second. Then the glass vial of blood that had been around his neck falls onto the dusty floor and shatters.
A moment later, Otto is back, looking most disgruntled. "Ach. Too much flash! Zer whole picture vill be overexposed now. I am zo sorry about zis."
"GAAAH!" Jamie jumps back and, by the time Otto is back, is in a very dramatic and geeky defensive "martial arts" pose.
"Okay!" he says loudly, holding his notepad out like a shield. "I don't know what you are, or why you and your hotel are in my living room... but if you would kindly... not be... anymore... I'd really appreciate it!"

Oh yeah. These two go way back.
