Multitasking: An exit, an entrance, and a notsocrazy girl

The observant may notice that a treepot by the door that's become something of a fixture for a little while is no longer there. Yes, this does mean exactly what you think it means -- Trey has gone back home, finally. We'll see how long it lasts, won't we?

River is inside, for once, curled up with a copy of The Tempest and occasionally whispering ( Read more... )

Faith doesn't mean to interrupt River, really.

But there's a piano in the Inn, and now and then she just HAS to play, so she's sitting on the bench, making her way through Moonlight Sonata, and that's the kind of thing River's sure to notice, isn't it?

River does notice! As River rather likes music. Especially live music. So her attention naturally turns towards the piano in the corner.

"That's wonderful," she says with a bright smile. She's somewhat tempted, as she is whenever she hears any music at all, to get up and dance. But so far, she's managed to resist the temptation.

Faith looks up and returns the smile. Yay, another person her age!

"Thank you. I don't have much training, though...I'm sure I could do better."

River just cuts herself off before saying that training is unneccessary. (For you, mei, but we're not all geniuses, Simon's voice in the back of her head says.)

"Training isn't everything," she settles on. "It's still pretty great."

There is an April sitting near Maureen (she hasn't noticed the other girl yet), sketching and humming to herself, a little smile hovering around her lips.

Life is still confusing. She still wants to start using again. She's still heartbroken over losing Roger. But for this moment, she's happy.

Maureen, after a couple of drinks, looks up and sees April. Not-April, as she thinks of her. The Other April.

Still, it's nice to see a smile on April's face, even a little one, even if it's not really April's face.

"You look happy," she says, loud enough to travel but not to disturb too many other people around them.

April looks up and smiles a little wider. "Yeah, hey!" She gets up immediately and moves closer. "How you doing?"

"Fine." Maureen punctuates the lie-that-isn't-exactly-a-lie by pounding back the rest of her drink. She's not drunk yet -- just a little tipsy. Although she seems well on her way to drunk. "What's new with you?"
